In 2021, a workforce demographics analysis was carried out by Ahpra’s Research and Evaluation team.

The workforce demographics snapshot report for the physiotherapy profession was collated using:

registration data (available from Ahpra’s 2015/16 annual report and 2019/20 annual report)
Australian Bureau of Statistics national, state and territory population data (released in March 2021, based on 2016 Census data)
Commonwealth Department of Health’s Health Workforce Data tool.
